Projects
The Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Histoical Organizations engages in special projects as opportunities are available. These opportunities are usually partnerships with other organizations or institutions in the museum community.
Recent Projects include:
ICR Conference: PFMHO partnered with the PHMC, WPMC, and ICOM to host the International Committee for Regional Musuems' conference in Pittsburgh and Johnstown in October 1008. Museum professionals from Austria, China, Croatia, Egypt, Germany, Kenya, New Zealand, Norway, Slovenia, and Taiwan convened in western Pennsylvania to discuss the theme, "Regional Museums in a Post Industrial Age."
Connecting to Collections: PFMHO has partnered with the PHMC, PALINET, and the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts to assist in the creation of a preservation plan for Pennsylvania collections.
This project will address areas of concern identified in the Heritage Health Index Report, which found that the nations collections are at great risk. The lead organization for this IMLS funded initiative, the CCAHA will seek to determine specific critical needs through a comprehensive assessment process involving approximately 4,000 Pennsylvania collecting insitutions.
